                  Student Success Statement     
“Attitude is the minds paintbrush it can color any situation”.

Reflection: I think that this statement is trying to tell us that the mind can make any situation the way you want it to be. An example of this is if you are thinking negatively them your mind can change that all you have to do is allow it to work. 
                               Attitude
Definition:  A settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior.

3 words: View, viewpoint, outlook, perspective, stance, standpoint, position, inclination, temper, orientation, approach, reaction.


Examples Good and Bad Attitude: Absenteeism, tardiness, leaves early Not following rules, policies, procedures, guidelines, agreements Not cooperative; is argumentative, rebellious, insubordinate, rigid Defensive, overly-sensitive, overly-reactive, excuse-making. Courage, reverent, dramatic pessimistic guilt. 
             Periodontist

Duties and Responsibilities: A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists are also experts in the treatment of oral inflammation. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including three additional years of education beyond dental school. They are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease, and are also trained in performing cosmetic periodontal procedures.

Salary: $192,000 per year


Education: You'll need a minimum of 2 years of college level pre-dental education before you can be admitted to dental school. Most dentists (including periodontists) obtain their bachelor's degree before entering dental school, and of those who enter dental school without first getting a bachelor's degree, generally get it while attending dental school.

Reflection: I think that this statement is trying to tell us that, a person who is very intellectual can become stupid by hanging around with the wrong crowd. But a person who hangs around with the people who choose the right will be very smart. 

             Dental Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:  The job description for dental technicians includes constructing various appliances such as removable and fixed prosthesis including dentures, bridges, crowns, retention plates; post orthodontic braces removal, etc. They generally work directly with the dentist by following detailed written instructions from the dentist or the orthodontist. They use molds as a replica of teeth for construction of crowns, bridges, or false teeth. For creating these prostheses, dental technicians work with different materials like wax, stainless steel, porcelain, as well as with gold and other metals. Nowadays, there is growing popularity for dental technicians to construct prosthesis which are metal free and aesthetic.

Salary: $30,000-$40,000


Education: All dental technicians who possess the required education and/or experience, have a working knowledge of the English language, and have not been found guilty of practicing dentistry illegally are eligible to become a Certified Dental Technician.

Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgeon(ENT)

Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgeon(ENT)

Duties and Responsibilities: An ear, nose and throat specialist (ENT) is a physician trained in the medical and surgical treatment of the ears, nose throat, and related structures of the head and neck. They have special expertise in managing diseases of the ears, nose and nasal passage sinuses, larynx (voice box), oral cavity and upper pharynx (mouth and throat), as well as structures of the neck and face. ENT is the oldest medical specialty in the United States.

Salary: $350,000- $360,000

Education: Students who wish to become an ENT should take the highest level of math and english classes. An ENT specialist is ready to start practicing after up to 15 years of college and postgraduate training. To qualify for certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology, an applicant must first complete college, medical school (usually four years), and at least five years of specialty training. Next, the physician must pass the American Board of Otolaryngology examination to be certified. Although typically Ent's take 15 years of study some take up to seven due to a test. 

Reflection: Once more I must decline this job due to my weak stomach. Typically I seem to get disgusted at even fake movie blood.

                   Clinical Manager

Duties and Responsibilities: A clinical manager is responsible for overseeing the medical and administrative operations of clinics and other medical facilities, and for supervising both clinical and administrative staff.  The role of clinical manager is similar to that of a practice administrator, but it includes recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of medical staff such as physicians, nurses, and orderlies as well as administrative employees such as billing clerks and medical coders.
 The clinical director is responsible for setting up policies and procedures; updating and retaining medical records; interacting with patients regarding billing and setting appointments; and working with insurance companies and regulatory agencies.  This position is also responsible for auditing medical procedures and treatments to be sure that the patient care provided by the facility is safe, effective, and in accordance with established medical standards.

Salary: $70,000-$80,000


Education: Bachelor Degree in Health or Business Administration (combination of related Education and operational experience in a health care organization may be substituted for Bachelor Degree in Health or Business.

Reflection: I think that this quote is trying to tell us that if we are kind all around then good will come in our path. This quote is also trying to state that in order to succeed in life you need to be kind because then people would like you more and just might want to hire you more. An example of this could be if I am on my way to a job interview then I am very sincere and kind with the boss then I might just get the job. I also think that this quote is trying to tell us that if we are kind and not rude we will not get stuff back such as people who are rood. 
                  Speech Pathologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Speech-language pathologists work with patients who have problems with speech. Their patients may be unable to speak at all or they may speak with difficulty or have rhythm and fluency problems, such as stuttering. They may work with those who are unable to understand language or with people who have voice disorders, such as inappropriate pitch or a harsh voice. Speech-language pathologists must also complete administrative tasks, including keeping accurate records. They record their initial patient evaluations and diagnoses, treatment progress, any changes in a patient’s condition or treatment plan, and, eventually, they complete a final evaluation when the patient finishes the therapy.

Salary: $40,000-$70,000


Education: The standard level of education for speech-language pathologists is a master’s degree. Although master’s programs do not specify a particular undergraduate degree for admission, certain courses must be taken before entering the program. Required courses vary by institution. Graduate programs often include courses in age-specific speech disorders, alternative communication methods, and swallowing disorders. These programs also include supervised clinical practice in addition to coursework.

“Visualization ---Imagination: What you see is what you get”.

Reflection: This statement is trying to tell us that if we don’t imagine or visualize doing something that we have wanted to do or succeed in our life then it will never happen. I also think that this statement is trying to tell us that we need to imagine who we want to be in life in order to become it. An example of this may be if you want to become an astronaut, well you need to imagine yourself being one in order to actually become one.  
         Sonographer (Ultrasound Technician)

Duties and Responsibilities: The duration for the training programs of ultrasound technicians vary depending on the degree that will be awarded at the completion of the program. The certificate programs take one year to be completed. Programs leading to award of an associate’s degree require two years to be completed while those leading to award of a bachelor’s degree take four years to be completed.

Salary: $90,000-$110,000


Education: There are different pathways to becoming an ultrasound technician. One can enroll in post secondary certificate programs for ultrasound technicians. Many colleges and universities are also offering programs for ultrasound technicians leading to award of associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree. Individuals who have backgrounds in healthcare services and have obtained a degree in their specialty area can be trained on the jobs by their employers if they want to become ultrasound technicians.

Reflection: I think that this quote is trying to tell us that our manners are what make us who we are. I think that this quote is also trying to tell us that if we do not have he proper manners in life then we won’t get anywhere because if your have manners one, you have respect which will get you in to many good places in life that can help you succeed. I also think that manners is what make a man because without manners this world would be chaotic and everyone would be choosing the wrong and nobody would be choosing the right. I also think that an example of this would be a mature kid whose parents taught him manners and how to behave but then there is this other kid whose parents did not teach him anything and he is annoying and nobody likes him.  


           Environmental Health Specialist- Sanitarian

Duties and Responsibilities: sanitarians, or environmental health specialists, enforce government regulations and advise and educational clients. They also improve water and sanitation facilities.

*design or manage sanitation, disposal, and water systems.
*oversee disposal of infectious waste
*develop and manage prevention and education programs.
*evaluate and identify health hazards and ensure compliance with regulations

Education: students should take college preparatory courses, especially in mathematics and science, during high school
A career as a sanitarian or environmental health specialists requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental health or environmental engineering. Many jobs require certification and/or a master’s degree in these, or related fields

                   Respiratory Therapy Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: Respiratory therapy technicians are also called respiratory therapy assistants, respiratory care assistants or respiratory therapist assistants. They assist respiratory therapists (RT) and doctors to provide medical treatment to people that have breathing and cardiopulmonary problems such as asthma or emphysema. They can also provide medical aid under the direction of RT’s to people suffering from shock, heart attack and drowning as well as adults that have lungs problems or babies with undeveloped lungs.

Salary: $30,000-$50,000


Education: Most entry-level jobs for respiratory therapy technicians require at least an associate degree in respiratory therapy, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. O*Net Online reported that 52 percent of those working in the occupation had associate degrees, while 40 percent had some college but hadn't earned a degree. The remaining 8 percent had earned bachelor's degrees. Training programs typically include instruction in operating and maintaining equipment, collecting patient data, sanitation, patient monitoring, installing respiratory assistance devices and airway management.
