Reflection: I think that this quote is trying to tell us that if we keep on trying and trying we will succeed in life. An example of this is I you are doing your homework keep on doing it until your finish don’t just not do it.

                               Perfusionist

Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical perfusionists operate circulation equipment during medical situations when it is necessary to temporarily and artificially replace the patient’s circulatory or respiratory functions.  This occurs during heart surgery and similar operations.  Perfusionists also control the temperature of patients during surgery.

Salary:  $50,000

Education: A high school diploma with a strong background in biology and chemistry is required to be accepted in perfusionist training programs.  Admissions preference is given to students with college science work or experience in respiratory therapy and medical terminology. 

Perfusionist training programs are given at academic health centers and medical schools and universities.  They emphasize hands-on, practical training.  Course length varies, but for the school to be recognized by the American Academy of Cardiac Perfusionists, the curriculum must include the supervised performance of 150 procedures to include 20 pediatric and infant cases.

Duties and Responsibilities: Patient Representatives work for healthcare administrators to address the concerns and their families. They evaluate patient satisfaction investigate complaints, collect information about patients dissatisfaction, work with departments to resolve patient problems, and educate staff. Patient representatives work in hospitals, nursing homes, other long-term care facilities, and in public health agencies.
 
Salary: $20,000-$40,000

Education: Students should take challenging high school courses in business science, math, and English. Requirements differ, but most employers prefer college graduates with backgrounds in health or social services. Experience or course work in conflict resolution in also valued.


Reflection: I think that I would love to do this as a future job because it is something that I really love to do and I think I will fit in great with this job.

Reflection: I think that this quote is trying to tell us that if you keep on trying and trying and your perseverance never goes away then that is what is going to lead to you achieve greatness.
                    Osteopathic Physician  

Duties and Responsibilities: Osteopathic physicians use accepted methods of diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases. Although they practice in all branches of medicine and surgery like allopathic physicians they differ by emphasizing the importance of the musculoskeletal system, holistic medicine, proper nutrition, and environmental factors in maintaining good health. Osteopaths use a hands-on approach to medicine and frequently manipulate or palpate as part of a diagnosis and treatment.

Average Salary: $100,000


Education: Students should take the most challenging high school courses (including AP or IB courses) available in science, math, and English. After three or four years of college, prospective physicians must attend medical schools. Undergraduate requirements for admission to all medical school you will need your basics chemistry, one year of organic chemistry, one year of biology, and one year of physics.

Reflection: Never be a basic person you have to be different in order to be greatness. If you look past everything greatness will come to you.
                                  Orthotist

Duties and Responsibilities: Prosthetics design and make replacement limbs. Orthotists work with patients that need extra support for their muscles, spine, or limbs. Design, make, and fit apparatuses made of plastic, wood, leather, and metal that help stabilize, strengthen or replace body parts. They also make and fit devices that help align limbs that have grown in crooked manner. They may work in clinics or may own their own private business.

Salary: $25,000-$40,000

Educational Requirements: Students should take challenging science, math, and English courses in high school. Some colleges and universities offer bachelor’s degrees in orthotic and prosthetic programs. There programs include courses in astronomy, physics, mathematics. Mechanical drawing, and the use of materials used in the making of devices. After a year of experience a person may apply for a certificate.

                Student Success Statement

Reflection: To be healthy i will do no drugs, no alcohol, no smoking. I will not be one of those people in the crowd that just cheer i will be one of the people that actually does something and plays. To stay in shape i will also join a sport preferably volleyball and football. I will also do what is said when people tell me to do it.

Reflection: This quote is telling us that we need to connect with our body,mind, and spirit.
                                   Optician

Duties and Responsibilities: Opticians fit and dispense eyeglasses for patients based upon prescriptions written by Ophthalmologist or optometrist. Optician’s help the customer’s select eyeglass frames and then measure their faces so that correct size frames can be ordered. They also measure the distance between the corneas of the eyes so that the lenses may be correctly fitted of contact lens and also in feting artificial eyes.

Average Salary: $19,000-$40,000

Education: Students should take high school courses in Physics, Algebra, Mechanical Drawing, and Geometry. A high school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin training as an optician. There are two types of training programs. Students can either complete an approved two-year course at an school of optician, or they can complete an approved three year on-the-job apprenticeship.

Reflection: I think that I would not want to do this a future job because I really do not like drawing or math.

Reflection: I think that this quote is telling us that we will get nowhere in life by just doing what is required, you have to go beyond that and you have to show your true excellence to the best of your ability to be the best and to get the best job.
                 Optical Laboratory Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: Optical laboratory technicians grind and fit eyeglass lenses into frames according to prescription written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Technicians set lens grinding machine so that lens blanks are ground polished. They then fit the polished lenses into eyeglasses frames and, depending upon where they work, fit the frames to the patients

Average Salary: $15,000-$20,000

Education: A high school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin optical laboratory training. Training programs last between six months and one year and are provided by vocational schools and community colleges. Some retail store optical department provides on-the-job training.


Reflection: I do not think that I would like to do this in the future because I really do not like the salary pay. And to be honest I just am not interested in this job because I do not like the job what so ever.

                          Ophthalmologists

Duties and Responsibilities:  Ophthalmologist are physicians who specialize in treatment of eye disorders and disease. They treat vision problems and write prescriptions for both pharmaceutical and corrective eyeglass lenses. When necessary, they perform eye surgery.

 

Salary: $90,000-$150,000

Education: Only physicians may study to become ophthalmologists. After completing medical school and an internship, an ophthalmologist must then complete a three to five year residency program they must be examination certified.


Reflection: I do think that I would want to do this as a career job because it does pay a lot of money and because I would really be interested in being necessary to do surgery.

Reflection: I think that this statement is trying to tell us that you should keep yourself captive of a higher goal than anybody else is keeping you captive of. 
                      Ophthalmic Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: Ophthalmic technicians or technologists help ophthalmologists collect data and measurements to allow the correct diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and problems. They work hospitals, clinics, or for ophthalmologists in private practice.  

Salary: $14,000-$30,000

Education: Students will need a high school diploma or GED certificate and two years of college prior to beginning ophthalmic training programs. These programs may vary in length, but can take up two years to complete. 


Reflection: I do not think that I would want to do this as a future job because they do not give a good paying amount of salary.

                                Progress

Reflection: What I have improved on over the past few days is learning to speak more Spanish I have learned how to communicate welly with others. I have also improved in this in my writing I can now write a poem in Spanish.

Reflection: This quote is telling us that you need to set a goal in order to achieve it. This quote is also telling us that you need to be good life. 
                Operating Room Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: They assist in preparing operating rooms for surgery. They are responsible for having surgical instruments, sterile bandages and linen, needed fluids, and other materials needed for the operation. They may also assist doctors by handing them needed instruments during surgery and for counting sponges before and after the operations.   
 
Salary: $16,000-$22,000

Education: A high school diploma or GED certificate is required. Many vocational and junior colleges offer programs in operating room technology, and training may also be taken at large hospitals. Programs vary between one and two years. Students receive training in medical terminology, physiology, and sterilization methods.  


Reflection:  I do not think that I would want to do this as a future job because one, they do not meet my salary requirements. I would also not want to do this job because it is not in my interest to waste my time doing something that I do not want to do as a career.
